Color! IN the shelf.

March 13, 2010

More on Color!
If you have your own boutique, and you want to find a new way to update your display shelves, or even if you don’t have a boutique and you just want to update the old humdrum bookshelf in your home…

COLOR is the most current way to do it.
What I love about ALL of these photos are how BRIGHT the colors are.
These are not shy colors; BOLD is the direction of color, so pull out your paint brushes, and be brave!

Turquoise is very current in the home, from the bright versions you see here,
to the more teal shades emerging in fashionable home stores.

This means being brave enough to take a risk on color,
but this is such a safe and interesting way to do it, AND economical.
What a great way to update an old piece of furniture banished to the back room or to the basement.
I have one of these (below) in my basement! Now where do I put it?

What do you think of this approach to color?  Better than painting a whole wall?
Good idea for updating a boutique display shelf? What is the HOTTEST color you are seeing? What color do you think I should feature next? Let’s talk about it… leave me your comments below.
Cheers, Bridget

Great feedback! thank you Nico, thank you Bill for your input. Nico, Love bright pink in the home, and the idea of the bold stripes on the wall can be fresh especially if the rest of the room is more subtle with color. I will feature more leading colors in the following weeks.

Hello Bridget! The hottest colors at the moment in France are bright flashy pink, apple bright green and also bright blue as shown on your 3rd photo. It's definitely a great alternative to painting the whole room as it remains discreet but still conveys a very lively atmosphere to the room. Alternatively, we tend to see a lot of wall partially painted with large stripes of bright colors, horizontaly or verticaly. This is very original too and easy to put in place without having to redoo the rest of the room. In a retail environment this is definitely something to adopt as it allows you to easily change the atmosphere of the store and also you can change it quite often !

Color tells a story, it defines a mood, a feeling, a memory, and can really trigger an inspiration! Define your space and develop your identity with color! When you need a boost, .....change it! Some of our best retail brands follow this simple philosophy and define themselves with color, which in many ways creates the urge to buy in the consumer... and with change, they buy over and over again!

Love, love, love it. Nice subtle way to bring much more color=happiness into our lives. Why should color be limited to Ipods and mobile devices?

I'm with you Bridget. Because I live in a Condo, it is much better for me to accent in smaller areas but in a BIG WAY! The accent wall, the pillows, love the furniture ideas that you show..Much cleaner looking and dramatic! Especially enjoy the colorful Wine closet in the Kitchen idea....
