WASHINGTON — Stroller maker Bumbleride is recalling more than 30,000 of its Indie and Indie Twin strollers because of issues with the front wheel.
The recall, done in corporation of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, focuses on the front wheel of the stroller, which can break at the axle hub, causing the stroller to tip and pose a falling hazard to passengers. The company says there have been 36 reports of the front wheel cracking and tipping over. Two of those incidents resulted in minor injuries.
The recall involves 28,000 strollers in the U.S. and 2,700 in Canada. They were sold between January 2009 and January 2012 at Buy Buy Baby and other juvenile products stores, at Bumbleride.com and through other online retailers, with retail prices between $500 and $700.
The affected strollers were manufactured between January 2009 and August 2011. Model numbers on the recalled single Indie are I-107, I-110 and I-205, and the recalled Indie Twin model numbers are IT-108, IT-111 and IT-305. Consumers are asked to stop using the stroller and contact Bumbleride at www.support.bumbleride.com or (800) 530-3930 to receive a free front wheel retrofit kit.
We would love your feedback!
