Ikea recalls high chairs linked to falls

WASHINGTON — Ikea is recalling some of its Antilop high chairs followings concerns that the high chair's restraint buckle can open unexpectedly and pose a fall hazard.
The recall, done in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, involves 169,000 chairs sold in both the U.S. and Canada between August 2006 and January 2010. Ikea has received eight reports worldwide of the buckles opening. Three children received minor injuries after falling out of the chairs.
The chairs, offered in blue, red and white with silver metal legs, retail for $20. The recalled seats were produced between July 2006 and November 2009 and the dates are located under the seat with the year listed first, followed by the month. The supplier number is 17389. Chairs outside of this time period are not part of the recall.
Consumers with a recalled seat should stop using it and contact Ikea to receive a free replacement seat restraint.
