Fisher-Price is mourning the loss of two colleagues, Stanley Clutton and Diana Dunn-Graves, who passed away over the holiday season.
Clutton, Fisher-Price's senior vice president of inventor relations, worked for nearly 40 years in the toy industry, and his career took him around the world as he searched for innovative toy ideas, the company said in a press release. Clutton is credited with tapping into the technology that would lead to Tickle Me Elmo, which caused a sensation in 1996.
He was named vice president of marketing at Tyco Preschool in 1993 and was promoted to senior vice president of marketing and design in 1997. In 2000, he was named senior vice president of inventor relations for all of Fisher-Price and added Mattel inventor relations to his duties in 2009. Clutton was a former board member of the Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Assn. and was involved with the group's charity committee.
Dunn-Graves' industry career spanned 20 years, and she was most recently vice president of marketing at Fisher-Price Friends, a position she called her "dream job."
Dunn-Graves began her career at Eden Toys before moving to Gund as vice president of marketing, where she launched the Gund Baby line. She joined Fisher-Price in 2001, working in the girls division and then moving to newborn and launching several lines including Laugh & Learn, Peek-a-Blocks and Amazing Animals.
Contributions in memory of Clutton can be made to the Toy Industry Foundation at www.toyassociation.org or the Cancer Research Institute at www.cancerresearch.org/give/memorial.html. Memorials in Dunn-Graves' name can be made to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation at www.tnbcfoundation.org.
