CPSC Small Business Ombudsman to hold webcasts

Washington, D.C. -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission's Small Business Ombudsman, Neal Cohen, will speak to various stakeholder groups via webcasts in the coming weeks.

Today, Cohen will speak to members of the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA) via webcast at 1 pm. The presentation addresses the lifting of the stays of enforcement for third party testing and certification for the toy safety standard and other children's product safety rules, all of which become effective beginning after December 31, 2011.

On December 1, Cohen will speak to members of the Handmade Toy Alliance (HTA) via webcast at 1 pm. The webcast will address third party testing and certification requirements for small batch manufacturers, including small batch manufacturer registration with the CPSC. In addition, the presentation will also address the lifting of the stays of enforcement for third party testing and certification for the toy safety standard and other children's product safety rules, all of which become effective beginning after December 31, 2011.

On December 13 at 1:00, Cohen will speak to members of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) Association via webcast. The presentation will emphasize sections of consumer product safety law relevant to the import and export community and CPSC's import surveillance activities. In addition, this presentation will also address the lifting of the stays of enforcement for various children's product safety rules beginning after December 31, 2011.
