CPSC Statement on New Crib Regulations
Kids Today Staff -- Kids Today, 8/30/2011 5:41:10 AM
The Consumer Product Safety Commission delivered the following statement to Kids Today for the juvenile products industry:
"On June 28, 2011, CPSC delivered on a promise to parents and caregivers. The Commission promised that the agency would eliminate inadequate crib safety standards for strengthened rules to give parents and caregivers confidence and ease when placing their infants and toddlers in cribs.
With every new rule or change in industry standards, there is always an impact on business. Prior to the enactment of the new crib standard, Commission staff requested feedback and set requirement deadlines in an effort to lessen the burden on industry while still remaining committed to the agency's ultimate goal of protecting families.
The Commission offers to the business community agency resources, including the new Small Business Ombudsman, to explain and provide clarity to industry so that businesses can plan appropriately deal with the new regulation.
These new crib regulations are not intended to cause economic harm; they are intended to save lives. The Commission encourages parents, caregivers, child care centers and other places who accommodate babies to purchase the new, safer cribs - which ultimately - is good for retailers."
We would love your feedback!
