Serena & Lily is launching two upholstery linesSerena & Lily is launching two upholstery linesNEW YORK -- Two new sofa lines by design house Serena & Lily for spring have launched on the company's website and will add to a line already known for its upscale linens and home wares for nurseries and children's rooms.
The launch marks Serena & Lily's first foray into the living room, with a tightly edited collection of upholstery designed with what the company describes as "incredible attention to detail." That includes everything from seat depth to the space between each of the decorative nail heads.
The Miramar line has rounded edges, a low profile, generous filling and other features designed to appeal to the casual aesthetic, while the Spruce Street line, with its contemporary linear design and angular characteristics, will appeal to those with a taste for modern.
The sofa lines will join a collection of furniture pieces that includes chairs, ottomans, benches and other seating, all available in Serena & Lily's exclusive patterned fabrics as well as a wide range of basic solids. Both offer a choice of features such as nail head finish, leg color and slipcover options and each comes either slip-covered or upholstered, with a matching chair option.
Retail price points range from $1,250 to $3,350, with pieces available this month on www.serenaandlily.com.
The company sells other products through 700 retailers in the United States and Canada but the upholstery is available only from the website.
"When we decided to introduce larger upholstered furniture pieces we wanted them to be perfect," said Serena Dugan, designer and co-founder. "We tested depth, softness and analyzed how to achieve a casual look as well as a more formal look without sacrificing style or comfort. I think we succeeded with Miramar and Spruce Street."
The collection is made in North Carolina from FSC-certified solid wood frame and eco-friendly covers and cushions. The company also has leather pieces such as the Canyon Chair ($1,850) in Serengeti cowhide and a Moroccan leather pouf, and says it will ultimately expand into leather on a larger scale.
