Art Van Furniture giving away Disney World trips

Promotion encourages consumers to apply for store credit card

WARREN, Mich. - Art Van Furniture is giving away Disney World dream trip getaways to 20 families who apply for the Top 100 company's store credit card.

No purchase is necessary for the retailer's "Apply and Fly" promotion, which began Monday and runs through Jan. 10. One family each week will win round-trip airfare for four to Orlando, Fla., hotel accommodations for seven nights, tickets to Disney World and Universal Studio attractions and a rental car. The first prize will be awarded Aug. 31.

Visitors to any of Art Van's 31 full-line and two Art Van PureSleep stores can enter by applying for the Art Van Signature card offered through GE Capital. The retailer said the no-annual-fee card's benefits include no-interest financing offers with no minimum purchase, invitations to VIP events and other special offers.

Separately, Art Van is presenting a "Detroit Meets New York" gala at its flagship Warren, Mich., store Oct. 21 to raise funds for "Shoot for a Cure," which benefits the Neuroscience Institute and the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center at the Henry Ford Health System.

Sights, sounds and flavors of the Big Apple will come to the showroom, which will present the Rockettes, Broadway performers and replicas of the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and Times Square.

Tickets are $175 to $1,000. Art Van is underwriting the expenses, with ticket proceeds going to benefit the programs at the Henry Ford Health System.
