Ken Sears, vice president of sales at Chicco, suffered a heart attack and died during the ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas last month. He was 56.
Sears was with two of his three children at the time of his death, and was surrounded by people from his company and the industry, “all of whom loved and appreciated him,” the company told Kids Today.
Assisted by others from the show, Chicco hosted a memorial reception for him the evening of his death. Several hundred of his friends and colleagues attended the event to celebrate his life.
Sears began working at Graco Children’s Products in 1991, where he remained for the next 10 years, working in both the company’s marketing and sales departments. He later served as a sales representative for juvenile products until he accepted the position of vice president of sales at Chicco in 2004.
Sears is survived by his wife and three children.
“Those he left behind will remember him as a man with an infectious sense of humor and a unique ability to blend work and relationships, never compromising a relationship for the sake of business,” according to a company release.
Among them is colleague Greg Mansker.
“The warm, sincere smile and matchless sense of humor made you like him at first sight,” he said. “He was one of the kindest, most tender-hearted men I have ever known. His many professional accomplishments are known to all of us in the industry, and he will be greatly missed by Chicco and his friends.”
