Plush toys for kids of all ages

Staff -- Kids Today, 4/1/2006 12:00:00 AM

Plush toys fill a variety of needs for children of all ages, from soft, stacking developmental toys to cuddly friends to room decor. For the retailer, plush toys are important for accessorizing vignettes and for add-on gift sales. Who can resist the latest ultra-soft fabrics that make yesterday's Teddy bear sweeter than ever? Infant soft toys are a must, and make great gifts for registries. New technologies are married with soft toys to create soothing products, like bears that emit womb sounds or Kids Preferred's Elephant, shown below, which gives off a soft light at bed time.

This cuddly pup is new from Aurora and made with soft faux fur.

Huggable Dufus is from First and Main's Bear Blvd. collection.

Kids Preferred's Bedtime Pals Elephant has ears and body fabric that glows when his belly is pressed.

This stacking ring from Manhattan Toy's baby line features colorful flower shapes with varied patterns and textures.

Steiff's Minka kitten is part of the German company's extensive collection of pets and farm animals, and comes with the signature button in its ear.
