New York —
Playmates Toys has been selected as master toy licensee for the Little Robots property, distributed by BBC Worldwide. The Joester Loria Group is the property's North American licensing agency.
"Little Robots" is an animated TV series geared to older preschool-age children. The show, which airs on The Cartoon Network in the United States, follows the adventures of Tiny and his robot friends. Playmates Toys' product lineup will include electronic figures, plush, dolls, play sets, games and assorted other preschool toys. Retail prices will range between $6.99 and $29.99.
The collection will be on display at Toy Fair next month, with a retail launch set for fall 2006. During the first year, the collection is being targeted to mass market retailers including Walmart, Target, Toys "R" Us, Kmart and KB Toys.
"Little Robots is one of those rare children's entertainment properties that conveys a simple, constructive message with endearing characters, entertaining stories, great play possibilities and a unique visual appeal," said Lou Novak, president of Playmates Toys.
Helen McAleer, children's deputy managing director at BBC Worldwide, was also enthusiastic. "We are excited to be working with Playmates and very much look forward to the forthcoming Little Robots toy range," she said.
Playmate's Little Robots toys will debut at Toy Fair.
