Big, bold, boxy designs in NYC

Bold prints and appliquéd details took center stage at the New York Home Fashions Market. Designs for baby, toddler and tween emerged with more sophisticated looks, even across licensed products like Hello Kitty. Details like metallic embellishments and beads, larger prints, argyle and more are on the horizon.

Robot from Whisper Soft Mills' Crayola line has bold colors, stitching details and an articulating robot dec pillow. The comforter set, $59, also comes with a Crayola coloring page and crayons, (212) 213-1135.

Hello Kitty shows her edgier side on the Tattoo collection from CHF Ind. The group has a comforter and shams made of peach microfiber and 100% cotton sateen sheets with embroidered hem and insert piping. Dec pillows featuring faux snake skin, the Union Jack and rhinestones round out the look, (212) 951-8130.

Jay Franco's My World's appliquéd leaves add texture and stuffed forest friends have Velcro backs making it an interactive bed. The skirt's wood-grain print completes the look, (212) 679-3022.

The Northwest Co., a licensee for Disney, rolled out micro-raschell throws, woven throws and cuddle wraps, $19.99, shown. The characters include Cars, Disney Princesses, Pooh, Tinkerbell and more, (516) 484-6996.

Chelsea, a four-piece crib set from PEM, $69.95, mixes minky chocolate swatches with geometrics and stripes for a cozy mod look. It's available in pink and chocolate or pear and chocolate, shown, (212) 481-2141.

Urban, from Freckles, is a bold patchwork tween set with denim treatments, a cargo-pantlike duvet and tie-dyed sheets, (813) 792-0633.
