Ruby Mac property seeks more licensees

North Hollywood, Calif. —
Ruby Mac, an edgy fashion property for tween and teen girls, is looking to expand its licensing program.
The property, which was introduced in January, features about 30 characters including Ruby and an assortment of girlfriends and animals. Cindy Keizman, the owner of Ruby Mac, is handling her own licensing program and is not represented by an agency.
Keizman said she is looking for a textiles manufacturer to make complete top-of-bed sets, and is also seeking licensees to produce novelty items, watches and another cosmetic line with a hipper edge, though Ruby Mac is not limited to just those categories.
"We're always open to opportunities," said Keizman. "We're open to avenues we haven't explored yet."
Ruby Mac already has a diverse product lineup, including room accessories, cosmetics, stationary, decorative pillows, throws, greeting cards and a pillow with a radio inside. The merchandise is sold at shops popular with tween and teens such as Icing, Spencers, Forever 21 and Claire's, and Keizman said some boutiques also pick it up.
Ruby Mac has a mixed-distribution system, with the company distributing some items such as stationary and room décor, and individual licensees distributing other items such as cosmetics. Current Ruby Mac manufacturers include Pulse Products, Torie Toys and Source East.
Ruby Mac will be showing at the Atlanta, New York, Boston and Toronto gift shows in January and at the MAGIC show in February in Las Vegas.
Ruby is one of about 30 characters in the property.
