The fall is such a busy time in the juvenile home furnishings publishing business.
Between ABC and the Las Vegas Market, and this month’s High Point Market, we at Kids Today have been in major production mode for the last eight weeks or so. Two national issues, a daily edition for ABC, sections in the Furniture/Today Las Vegas and High Point daily issues, special edition e-letters … the list seems to go on and on.
One other important thing that we are doing this time of year is planning 2010. We are sticking with our 10-time frequency and will continue to bring you unparalleled new product coverage and industry insights throughout the year. We have also added several exciting new research reports to the calendar, including a three-part exclusive survey with MomCentral.
You will hear lots more on that and the other new initiatives that we are putting forward, but I wanted to share with you our enthusiasm for the upcoming year. 2009 has been nothing if not a challenge, but we are pleased with the way things are heading.
Along those lines, I interviewed a number of textiles vendors this month for our Buyer’s Guide report on page 18. They shared with me their forecasts for 2010, and they are excited too. To be sure, there is still a lot of hesitation out there, but I do think all of us who have survived are running smarter, sharper businesses, which positions all of us well to seize the moment when things really do start to turn around.
But enough about 2010: We still have a lot of 2009 to go, starting with the High Point Market. Take a look at what’s new starting on page 22, and don’t miss our report on the new licensed Nickelodeon collection that Lea Industries is bringing to market, on page 12.
There are still plenty of reasons to be excited right now.
I’ve told you what we are excited about. How about you? Please share your thoughts with me at jheinzen@reedbusiness.com.
We would love your feedback!
